Moturiki Island (Leisure Island)

Moturiki Island, also known as Leisure Island, is located just off Mount Maunganui beach. It is connected to the beach by a man made land bridge. It was once an aquarium in 1966 but was then closed in 1981. Later in 1981 it was reconstructed into a water park with swimming pools, bumper boats and hydro slides, which operated until 1990 when it was removed from the island. Now Leisure Island is a great walk with views out to the sea.
